Google chrome is out, brand new and shiny!! When a google product comes in the market, it becomes an instant hit. This is why, there is a lot of hype for any google product, and now......chrome(beta).
But is chrome standing to all the expectations of the users? Is it better than the other browsers?
Google, when releasing chrome said that its main concern was over the user security while surfing the net. It's still in its beta stage, for that case all google products are :) . But this time it seems that's true. While it maintains its simple look which makes google products appealing, it's customizable like the other browsers.
Though Chrome returns most Web sites noticeably quickly, it was never able to pass the Acid3 test with flying colors. It's notably better than Firefox 3 and IE7, though in BetaNews tests, it took Chrome about 90 seconds to get as far as 77%. (Opera 3, which does score better than chrome, still only ekes out an 83% in BetaNews tests.)
Each tab in chrome is a different process and runs in its own sandbox environment. Well sandbox is a concept first used in java and is now being used everywhere be it any modern technology, application or browser. Well this is not the first browser to use it. Opera and others already had the same concept. But as I said, the name google just made it spread like wild fire.
Incognito, a new personalized web surfing experience is provided by chrome. But at the same time, Microsoft has recently released its IE8 (beta) having "Inprivate" feature which is little better than incognito.
Security was the main aspect which Google stressed upon when releasing chrome but is it really so? It has a hell lot of security bugs. When you save your password in firefox, though they are not encrypted, they can be protected by a master password. But in chrome, they are not encrypted and not even protected by master password. So beware!!! One of your friends may just steal your password when using your computer. And this loophole even givesspace for malwares to steal your passwords.
And when you download something, it directly opens as soon as you click it, without giving you any warning or notification. What if it is a malware or a java program? It will directly execute and can harm your system or can even crash it. Why is this bug so openly left out in chrome?
NOTE: It seems that in some cases Google Chrome may not get along too well with Kaspersky's Proactive Defense as the latter detected the updater as taking trojan-like actions on our test computer. However, you can clearly see from the picture below that the trojan-activity detected is just an attempt to place itself in startup. This is just a heads up for those of you whose antivirus programs may flag Chrome as possible malware.
Take a look at the picture I've taken on one of my friend's computers and judge for yourselves.
